AeroUnion rebrands as Avianca Cargo México, expanding global connectivity

  • AeroUnion has rebranded as Avianca Cargo México, strengthening its role as a key cargo hub that links Mexico and the U.S. West Coast to 350+ global destinations.
  • With two A330 P2F freighters now in operation and an expanded alliance with Avianca Cargo, the airline is set to support strategic sectors such as pharma, perishables, automotive, and tech, while boosting Mexico’s international trade connectivity.

With the launch of its new brand, Avianca Cargo México is positioning itself as the cargo airline that links Mexico and the U.S. West Coast to over 350 destinations worldwide, opening the door to key markets in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Formerly AeroUnion, the company now presents itself as Avianca Cargo México, a brand created to continue delivering consistent service based on three main pillars: global connectivity, an expanded network, and service excellence. Thanks to the dedication and commitment of its team throughout this transformation, the airline is entering a new stage where Mexico will be further consolidated as a strategic hub for international trade, with more modern, agile, and reliable operations.

“Today we reaffirm our commitment to responding swiftly, consistently, and with excellence to our customers’ needs, strengthening long-term relationships of trust. This purpose is supported by a modern fleet, international standards, and a committed team, the result of a continuous transformation process,” said Danilo Correa, CEO of Avianca Cargo México.

While retaining its own capital structure, operating permits, corporate governance, and technical, labour, administrative, and financial resources, Avianca Cargo México reflects the implementation of the industry’s highest standards.

“From IATA, we recognise the relevance of cargo airlines such as Avianca Cargo México, which are fundamental to the development of this sector in our country. In the first half of 2025, air cargo in Mexico moved more than 374,000 tonnes, showing growth of 5.9 percent compared to the same period the previous year,” said Cinthya Martínez, IATA Country Manager Mexico.

Strengthened alliance and expanded capacity

The alliance between Avianca Cargo México and Avianca Cargo strengthens the route network and expands available capacity, enabling more efficient service to strategic sectors such as technology, automotive, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, personal care, and perishables. This joint effort generates new opportunities for Mexico’s productive sectors and enhances connectivity to major international markets including the United States, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina, as well as destinations in Asia and Europe.

Avianca Cargo México currently operates two A330 P2F aircraft, the second of which arrived in Mexico on June 20, 2025. Known for its efficiency, the aircraft can transport oversized and temperature-controlled cargo, key for industries such as pharmaceuticals, technology, and perishables. In synergy with Avianca Cargo’s six A330Fs, the harmonisation of standards and best practices positions Avianca Cargo México as a key regional player, prepared to meet current and future market demand with agile, reliable, and high-quality solutions.

“Together with our partner Avianca Cargo México, we are taking a decisive step to strengthen our joint offer of connectivity, capacity, and service. Today we reaffirm our commitment to our customers by providing an expanded network and a stronger connection offering with new routes and frequencies,” said Diogo Elias, CEO of Avianca Cargo.
