ACL Airshop has appointed Marc Terpstra to the role of board advisor, bringing over 25 years of experience in the air cargo industry with him.
Previously its managing director – international for over 10 years, Terpstra has been with the company and its predecessors since the merger of Airshop and Airline Container Leasing.
The former chief executive officer (CEO) of Airshop BV was instrumental in the recapitalisation of the ACL and Airshop enterprises, merging them into the fast growing single brand of ACL Airshop.
In 2016, he and other shareholders negotiated for multiple institutional investment companies and Ranger Aerospace to take ACL Airshop to its next level.
Commenting on the past decade, Terpstra says: “We are entrepreneurs. We look at our business through the lens of our airlines and cargo customers. That is what drives our mission. The larger we make the international network, the more valuable we are to our customers.
“We are the global leader in Custom ULD Solutions. Our equipment now serves over 200 airlines clients. I look forward to helping the executive team that I helped promote and coach to now take ACL Airshop to new altitudes of service, quality, and success.”
Terpstra’s noteworthy achievements include introducing one-way ULD leasing, expanding ACL’s client count to over 200 airlines and creating strategic alliances with ground handlers and freight forwarders.
His biggest achievement is building ACL’s worldwide presence from just five airports to nearly 50 in less than 10 years, while initiating the new Bluetooth ventures with CORE Transport Technologies to give airlines real-time ULD tracking was also considered noteworthy.
Terpstra is also the co-founder, managing director and CEO of Fast Forward Freight, a global freight forwarding company with over 7,000 clients for air, sea, rail and road transportation services, based at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, where he will continue to work whilst serving on ACL’s board.
