German airport saw a cargo tonnage rise of 0.3 per cent in February compared to the same month in 2015, handling 340,418 tonnes, according to the Germany Airports Association ADV.

The association says cargo throughput for the third consecutive month was positive, but at a low level.

ADV explains: “In the developments of imports and projections it will remain volatile. The projections fall by minus 1.3 percent (158,174 tonnes) and the invitations to plus 1.7 per cent (182,246 tonnes) rise.

“The decline in projections illustrates the binding to the economic development in particular to China. The Chinese New Year and the ongoing consolidation of the Chinese economy with the increasingly stronger domestic orientation are primarily responsible for the decline.”
