- The program provides a structured, expert-led process for logistics companies to meet international GDP standards, enhancing safety, compliance, and efficiency in pharmaceutical and healthcare supply chains.
- The initiative aims to become a global benchmark for GDP compliance, helping WCAworld members maintain ongoing regulatory alignment, reduce risk, and build trust in pharmaceutical logistics.
The newly launched Good Distribution Practice (GDP) Accreditation Audit Program from WCAworld Academy has already achieved its first success story, with WCAworld member Embassy Freight London UK now fully GDP compliant.
The pharmaceutical and healthcare distribution network is one of the most complex and highly regulated in the world and improper handling of shipments can result in product damage, temperature excursions, theft and risks to patient safety. Since the introduction of the EU’s GDP guidelines in 2013, there has been growing pressure on logistics companies to demonstrate compliance with global standards.
The WCAworld Academy GDP Accreditation Audit Program has been designed to meet this need. It provides members with a structured, comprehensive process to align their operations with international GDP standards. Through expert-led assessments, gap analysis, improvement guidance and final accreditation, companies can validate their ability to safeguard sensitive healthcare products throughout the supply chain.
The program is set to become the gold standard for GDP compliance across the logistics industry due to its rigor and global recognition. Accredited companies receive an official certificate confirming their compliance with the EU Guidelines and/or PIC/S Guide, as well as ongoing support to ensure they remain up to date with evolving regulations. Beyond compliance, the program enhances operational efficiency, reduces risk, and ensures employees are trained in best practices for handling healthcare shipments.
Embassy Freight London UK is the first WCAworld member to complete the full GDP accreditation audit process. This milestone demonstrates the company’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards in pharmaceutical and healthcare logistics.
Sean Butler, Managing Director Embassy Freight remarked upon completion of the accreditation “Embassy Freight Services UK are thrilled to have achieved GDP accreditation.
“This is an important milestone that reinforces our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in the pharmaceutical supply chain. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Leah McKenna and the WCA Academy for their invaluable assistance throughout this process.”
Leah McKenna General Manager WCAworld Academy adds “It is wonderful to be able to offer this service to our members, it is something our members have requested and we are delighted we can now deliver. Embassy Freight’s achievement has already given them the opportunity to quote on new business and highlights the impact of our GDP Accreditation Program.
“This milestone reflects WCA world Academy’s commitment to raising global compliance standards and equipping members with the knowledge and tools to lead in pharmaceutical logistics.”
With renewal every two years and continuous support from WCAworld Academy, the GDP Accreditation Audit Program ensures that members don’t just achieve compliance once but maintain it as an integral part of their operations.
This initiative marks a significant step for the industry. By raising standards, reducing risks, and reinforcing trust, the program helps empower WCAworld members and their partners.
