Morrison Express has appointed Asok Kumar as its new Global Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 August 2025, marking the start of a new chapter for the Taiwan-based forwarder following its acquisition by Japan’s Sagawa Express, part of SG Holdings. Kumar will be based at Morrison’s headquarters in Taipei as the company begins integration into SG Holdings’ international network.
Kumar joins Morrison with more than 20 years of experience in freight forwarding and supply chain management. He most recently served as Executive Vice President and Global Head of Air Freight at DB Schenker, where he led operations across 14 countries and managed a workforce of over 2,000 employees from his base in Frankfurt.
Starting his career at Singapore Airlines, Kumar transitioned to SIA Cargo as it expanded into freight, holding senior roles in Europe before moving into forwarding with BAX Global and later Exel (now DHL). In 2006, following DB Schenker’s acquisition of BAX, he was appointed Head of Sales for Asia Pacific. Over nearly two decades, he rose through the ranks, ultimately becoming global head of airfreight.
At DB Schenker, Kumar was a central figure in steering the carrier through the pandemic-era capacity crunch, launching charter programmes, stabilising procurement with airlines, and embedding digital forecasting tools for customers. He also pushed sustainability initiatives and collaborative planning models that strengthened resilience across the network.
Following DSV’s acquisition of DB Schenker, Kumar chose to step down earlier this year and relocated to Taiwan in July.
Founded in 1972 with just 16 employees, Morrison Express has grown from its roots in Taipei into a global forwarder. The appointment of Kumar, a leader known for agility, transparency, and strong carrier relationships, underscores its ambition to expand its role in global logistics under SG Holdings’ umbrella.
