In a social media post this week, Khaled Alkhawaldeh, cargo commercial director Royal Jordanian Airlines has resumed flight operations to both Iraq and Syria. The airline’s “cargo freighter ready to serve you!” he wrote.
The airline had suspended all flights to destinations in Iraq – Baghdad, Erbil, Basra, Sulaymaniyah – until June 24, 2025 due to regional airspace restrictions
Since that date operations have resumed. From Wednesday, June 25, 2025 onward, RJ flights to those Iraqi cities are active again.
Royal Jordanian relaunched its Amman–Damascus route on January 31, 2025, with four weekly flights—and was operating daily flights by April 2025. The airline restarted services to Aleppo on Tuesday, June 24 2025, launching three weekly flights.
By Wednesday, RJ was back in full swing flying to both Damascus and Aleppo, as well as across Iraq.
Freighter fleet
Royal Jordanian Cargo now operates two active freighters: One Airbus A321-200P2F and one Airbus A330-200F. A solo A310-300F that’s being phased out.
These aircraft enable RJ to serve over 50 destinations across four continents, using a mix of scheduled and charter operations.
