Lufthansa Cargo christened its newest Boeing 777 freighter, D-ALFL, with the name ‘¡Hola Argentina!’ at Buenos Aires Airport. The event marked the cargo carrier’s continued focus on strengthening trade ties with Argentina and South America. The move is part of its long-standing aircraft naming campaign ‘Say hello around the world’, in place since 2013. The freighter will support the region’s growing import-export needs, especially as the carrier expands its cargo capacities to South America in the summer 2025 flight schedule.
Lufthansa Cargo has operated flights between Argentina and its Frankfurt hub since 1970. Argentina, along with other regional markets such as Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay, plays a key role in global trade flows, particularly for exports of raw materials and agricultural products.
The region also continues to see increasing demand for high-value imports such as machinery, electronics, and automobiles.
In the upcoming summer schedule, Lufthansa Cargo will increase weekly freighter services to Buenos Aires and Curitiba by one additional flight compared to the winter schedule.
This results in four weekly freighter rotations to South America. Its South American freighter network includes Viracopos (VCP), Montevideo (MVD), Buenos Aires (EZE), and Curitiba (CWB). Additional capacity is provided via up to 20 weekly belly-hold connections from Frankfurt and three from Munich.
