Coventry Airport has appointed time-critical logistics specialist Bespoke Distribution Aviation (BDA) its official handling agent.
BDA, which is already based at the airport, will process all inbound and outbound cargo, including explosives and dangerous goods.
The agreement comes at a time when Coventry Airport is poised to become a major cargo hub, as a £106 million ($164 million) redevelopment project on the road infrastructure around the airport nears completion.
Kevin Turner, managing director of BDA, says that such a hub, close to all major motorway networks, is vital not just for final-mile logistics for international freight coming in and out of the UK, but also as a central bridge connecting the north and south of the country.
Coventry Airport is operated by the Rigby Group. The group’s marketing director, Judy Groves, says: “BDA’s success story is phenomenal and we are really proud that they have their UK hub at Coventry Airport and are now our handling agents too.
“Their story, and the story of many of our other logistics residents that are based here, is further evidence that Coventry Airport is already playing a huge role in the global supply chain.”
