Leipzig/Halle breaks cargo records in October

Leipzig/Halle Airport continues to break records with 6.5% growth in October, putting it well above the national trend.

The airport handled 112,587 tonnes of cargo in October, up 6.5% and marking an absolute record for the month.

From January to October, cargo volumes rose by 1.3% to 1.02 million tonnes, the 13th year of growth, and above the national trend of -3.6%.

Götz Ahmelmann, CEO of airport operator Mitteldeutsche Flughafen says: “The new record for air cargo volume once again underlines that our airport is one of the most dynamically growing cargo airports in the world.”

Aircraft movement increased by 1.9% in October to 7,348 and by 0.2% in the first 10 months to 66,661.
