Swissport opens second Vienna airport warehouse

Swissport International has opened its second air cargo warehouse at Vienna International Airport, bringing its total space to 7,000 square metres.

The Swissport operated facility, which has a surface area of 2,100 square metres, has direct airside access, allowing shipments to be transported to be transported to and from the aircraft much faster than before.

Swissport is one of two air cargo handlers at Vienna airport who can provide director access to the airport apron.

Willy Ruf, senior vice president Central Europe of Swissport says: “We are pleased to be able to offer our clients even shorter transit times for their shipments going through Vienna. The opening of the new warehouse is another step to meet our strategic goal of offering direct airside access at each of the 15 airports at which we offer cargo services in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.”

The facility was built by Vienna airport’s operator, Flughafen Wien, and Swissport has entered into a long-term lease agreement.

As part of the arrangement, Swissport has relocated its cargo documentation services to new offices in the building, offering clients a one-stop service.
