Paris Air Show: GECAS orders more 737-800BCFs

GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) has confirmed its order for 10 Boeing 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters, adding 15 more purchase rights.

The 737-800BCF is a converted Next-Generation 737 passenger aircraft capable of carrying up to 23.9 tonnes of cargo over a distance of 2,000 nautical miles.

The Paris Air Show order is the third time GECAS has purchased the 737-800BCF, with General Electric’s leasing and financing arms has 65 orders and options.

Richard Greener, senior vice president and manager of GECAS cargo says: “Our leasing customers are very pleased with the versatility and reliability of these freighters. It’s enabling operators to replace ageing freighters and meet the rapidly growing express cargo market.”

Ihssane Mounir, senior vice president of commercial sales and marketing for The Boeing Company says: “GECAS has a great pulse on the leasing market and what air freight operators are looking for in their cargo fleet. It is an honour to have GECAS place three orders for the 737-800BCF in as many years.”

He adds: “We are excited to expand our partnership with GECAS and we look forward to delivering more converted freighters to support their customers.”
