Emirates SkyCargo will carry over 175 tons of relief cargo to Kerala, India to help those affected by flooding.
The relief goods will be transported on more than a dozen flights to Thiruvananthapuram, the nearest online Emirates station to the areas most affected by the floods.
The goods, including lifesaving boats, blankets and dry food items will be handed over to the local flood relief and aid organisations for distribution.
Almost 400 people have died and thousands remain stranded by the worst flooding in the state of Kerala in a century.
Thiruvananthapuram has had to handle 480 additional flights after the closure of Cochin Airport on 15 August, the Times of India reports, with as many as 146 rescue and relief flights operating from the airport.
