Cargolux validates GDP certificate for another year

Cargolux Airlines International has validated its GDP certification for another year by passing its GDP Surveillance Audit.

The certificate shows that company management systems fulfil requirements of the EU directive ‘Guidelines on Good Distribution Practice of Medicinal Products for Human Use’ and of WHO guidelines.

The Luxembourg based airline became the world’s first GDP certified airline in January 2014, with the home hub and 12 other stations within the network also gaining GDP and/or CEIV Pharma via its subcontracted service partners.

Cargolux director of global logistics services, Franco Nanna, who is also chairman of IATA’s Time and Temperature Working Group says: “GDP Certification ensures best practice policies are upheld in the handling and transportation of this sensitive cargo. Along with the temperature controlled zones onboard the aircraft, this certification represents additional peace of mind for our customers whose satisfaction is our key priority.”

Cargolux global product manager for CV Pharma, Stavros Evangelakakis adds: “The demand for specialised transportation of pharmaceuticals has risen considerably over the past few years and Cargolux’s dedicated product CV Pharma is in increasing demand.

“There is growing market interest for these products in South America and Africa although the majority of the supply is still flown from Europe to North America, North East Asia and the Gulf region.”
