The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced on Thursday that any air cargo coming to the US from Turkey must now be screened.

International broadcaster CNN says on its website, the move has been made to address and enhance emerging threats to cargo and raise the level of global aviation security.

Before the new guidance, screening of all air cargo shipments from Turkey had been carried out on a voluntary basis.

The new mandate comes after a foiled terror plot last month in Australia, which found a senior ISIS commander had shipped partially assembled components of a bomb on a commercial aircraft from Turkey to Australia.
