Sarah Scheibe is Head of Operations for ECS Group and Managing Director of TCE, where she is globally responsible for all Operational, Quality, Safety and Security (QSS) Aspects for the group and especially for the TCM products. Scheibe joined ECS Group in January 2019, responsible for TCE and structuring a complete operational organisation within the Group. She has 20+ years of experience in the cargo aviation industry, including QSS Management roles and Compliance Management.How did you get into airfreight/logistics?
As most of the people in logistics – by total coincidence….. and as always you either love it or you hate it ….. I stayed so make your guess.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
My grandfather always told me that I have a very high level of practical intelligence and I should always rely on it to find solutions – there is no failing, you either succeed or you learn but you should never give up. And whenever I have and had challenges in my life I always remember this and continue going and actually it works.
What’s something we wouldn’t know about you from your CV?
I´m a very passionate Salsa dancer – and this is definitely something you would not learn from my CV.
What hobby have you always wanted to try but never got around to?
I would love to become a pilot myself and to finally learn to play the Cello.
If you have not pursued a career in airfreight, what other field would you have liked to go into?
Something very different was my initial plan, I usually wanted to become a doctor (a surgeon to be precise) and probably that would have been my path to go.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Well there are several nice superpowers to have…. But having the possibility to foresee the future would be nice sometimes to get prepared – especially in our industry.
If there was a movie made about your life, who would you like to see play the lead role?
I would think of Charlize Theron or Julia Roberts.
Looking back over your career, what would your message be to someone considering a career in logistics?
Be sure to love challenges, be passionate, be a team player and never be lazy to go the extra mile- this industry has so much to offer.
How do you motivate your team?
I believe the best motivation is being part of the team, never being afraid to get the hands dirty – especially in operations – and also show the team your appreciation and let them shine.
What is the one item you can’t travel without?
My hairdryer…I know this is a very typical lady´s reply and I almost feeling ashamed of.
Who is your role model?
I would say I do not have role model per se – probably it would be rather a combination of different people, but in general I appreciate persons that take on life with a smile.
What would your autobiography be called?
It´s always worth to go the extra mile.
Cats or dogs?
I´m definately a dog person – even though cats always want to convince me to like them as well.
Early riser or night owl?
Well unfortunately both – this might explain the additional wrinkles around the eyes.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I love pasta and seafood.
