60 Seconds With … Raoul Sreenivasan

Raoul Sreenivasan is Vice President of Amazon Global Air, where he has helped grow the company’s aviation network from a 20-aircraft operation to over 100 aircraft globally. With more than 25 years in logistics — including leadership roles at DHL, TNT and FedEx — he joined Amazon a decade ago, drawn by its potential to transform the industry in which he’s built his career.

What was your dream job as a child?

You won’t believe it — I wanted to be a banker. My dad was one, and I thought it looked cool to wear suits to work. Now I wear hoodies and jeans!

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve shipped?

Manatees.

What’s the biggest change you’ve seen in the industry?

Customer expectations. People now expect higher quality, faster speed, and immediate access to information.

What’s the best business lesson you’ve learned?

The importance of remaining humble.

If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be?

The President of the United States. There’s a lot I’d want to understand.

Which three items would you take to a deserted island?

A Bible, swimming goggles, and a picture of my wife.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

Mustang Sally.

Describe your job in three words.

Safety. People. Customers.

What’s your hidden talent?

I can whistle really well — but I’m not going to do it here.

What’s something on your bucket list?

A safari in Africa.

What’s the best airport in the world and why?

Detroit. It’s incredibly well planned — just one long rectangle and very organised.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

There can be no question when it comes to ethics and integrity.

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

Most recently, race car driving.

Which three people would you invite to dinner?

Jesus — for obvious reasons. 

Gandhi — for his outlook on life. 

And my father, who passed away many years ago.

What’s something we wouldn’t know about you from your CV?

I’m a three-time Ironman finisher.

What’s your proudest moment?

Personally, watching my kids achieve their goals.

Professionally, seeing the people I’ve promoted grow into senior leadership roles. Helping others reach their career goals is what leadership is all about.
