Formally operated since October 1999 as a Sino-German joint venture set up by Shanghai Airport Authority Logistics Development Co., Ltd, Lufthansa Cargo AG and the Shanghai-based JHJ Logistics Management Co., Ltd, PACTL has integrated the advantages of its three shareholders and grown into one of the top cargo terminals in the world.
In September 2005, PACTL’s Terminal 2 started operation, followed by the milestone achievement of exceeding one million tonnes of annual cargo tonnage in December 2007. In December 2008, PACTL West, the largest of its terminals, was officially opened. April 2016 marked the launch of PACTL Cool Center, making PACTL the first air cargo terminal to have obtained IATA CEIV Pharma certificate in China. In the same year, PACTL cooperated with Nantong Airport and started operation of the cargo terminal to realise the complementary advantages and resource sharing between the two airports.
Since January 2022, the PACTL team started to operate the Hongqiao Airport Cargo Terminal, constantly committed to business process optimisation, facility renovation and upgrading, as well as operational efficiency improvement. Through round-the-clock operation, PACTL provides all customer partners with high-quality, stable and convenient service experience, and actively expands the business linkage between Hongqiao airport (SHA) and Pudong Airport (PVG).
“We continue to expand routes and increase flight frequency, and have established close cooperative relationships with many internationally renowned airlines and shipping companies to provide customers with more convenient and efficient logistics services,” Carsten Hernig, Deputy General Manager at PACTL, stated.
“We are today serving 70 airlines and more than 200 forwarders. The route network covers cities in five continents. With the growth of cross-border e-commerce business in recent years, PACTL also proactively cooperates with e-commerce enterprises to strongly support cross-border business.
“Looking ahead, PACTL will continue to uphold the concept of customer first and service first, and continue to promote the innovative development of air cargo business.”
