Cargo 2000 appoints Chris Davies as its first technical manager

The Cargo 2000 (C2K) board has created a technical manager position and appointed Chris Davies as the first in the role.

Davies brings over 14 years of experience in the airfreight IT sector and joins the new Cargo 2000 management team, headed by Ariaen Zimmerman, executive director.

Davies has previously served on the C2K Technical Working Group and will be responsible for delivering the core technical C2K product.

Before joining Cargo 2000, Davies worked with Descartes Systems Group in London, where he led various systems integration projects for the company’s GF-X electronic cargo-booking portal for freight forwarders and carriers.

“I am looking forward to liaising productively with all stakeholders within the C2K community, many of whom I have worked closely with over the years,” says Davies.

“I am keen to continue to develop these relationships and to bring the fresh perspective of someone who has been at the core of the industry for some time to help define the future strategy and achieve the objectives of Cargo 2000 in a way that addresses the needs of all industry participants.”

Davies joins Cargo 2000’s new management team as the organization prepares to rebrand in the New Year, part of a change programme which involves a revision of door-to-door specification, a Smart Data project and a revised Audit and Certification programme.

Zimmerman says: “Chris has a reputation for delivering robust projects and solutions for his customers, and prides himself on his ability to act as a conduit between commercial and technology teams.

“He is very much looking forward to continuing his efforts to promote industry-wide quality standards from within the Cargo 2000 team.”

Cargo 2000 (C2K) is an International Air Transport Association interest group with the mission of creating and implementing quality standards for the worldwide air cargo industry.
